How to play

Red tiles: A red tile is about to be hit. Step off it before it flashes.
Move: Swipe in any of eight directions, or use WASD or the arrows with Q E Z C for diagonals. Up always moves the way the camera looks. A long swipe or Shift slides a bishop, rook or queen two tiles.
Turn the view: Tap the turn buttons at the bottom left, drag two fingers sideways or twist them, drag with the right mouse button, or press the comma and period keys: the camera turns a quarter at a time. Up still moves the way it looks.
Attack: Tap, left click or press Space to strike the best target in reach, or tap a marked tile to pick it. Every piece attacks with its chess pattern.
Ultimate: Deal damage and capture to fill the ring, then hold ULT or press R. Dying empties it.
Skill: Every piece has its own skill, ready again when its ring is full. Tap SKILL or press F, then tap a marked tile, swipe or press a direction; SKILL again or Escape cancels. Pawn, Double Step: two tiles at once, untouchable for a moment. Knight, Trample: charge two tiles and shove back whoever you hit. Bishop, Blink: jump to a free tile up to three away on a diagonal. Rook, Fortify: stand your ground and block the next two hits. Queen, Check: strike a tile up to four away; whoever stands there cannot move for a second.
Promotion: Captures in one life promote you: knight, bishop, rook, then queen. Each promotion heals you fully.
Winning: The highest score when the clock runs out wins. Capturing a bigger piece scores more; dying costs points.
